Alfonso Cuar贸n Orozco聽(US:聽/kw蓱藧藞ro蕣n/kwar-OHN;聽Spanish:聽[al藞fonso聽kwa藞删on]; born 28 November 1961) is a Mexican filmmaker. His accolades include four聽Academy Awards, seven聽BAFTA Awards, and three聽Golden Globe Awards. Cuar贸n made his feature film debut with the romantic comedy聽S贸lo con tu pareja (1991) and directed the film adaptations聽A Little Princess聽(1995) and聽Great Expectations聽(1998). His breakthrough came with the coming-of-age film聽Y tu mam谩 tambi茅n聽(2001), which earned him a nomination for the聽Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He gained greater prominence for directing the fantasy film聽Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban聽(2004), the dystopian drama聽Children of Men (2006), the science fiction drama聽Gravity (2013), and the semi-autobiographical drama聽Roma聽(2018).
