--- (En français plus bas) --- When Kurt Vonnegut (The Shape of Stories) meets Guy Debord (The Society of the Spectacle)… With The Piano Accident, Quentin Dupieux brings together Adèle Exarchopoulos, Sandrine Kiberlain, Jérôme Commandeur, and Karim Leklou to deliver a cynical take on our times: a society of images and constant entertainment, where the reality of some becomes the spectacle of others, distracting us from our true condition. True to his narrative efficiency (you can tell he’s studied Vonnegut’s formulas well), Dupieux torments his characters. The heroine becomes a billionaire by posting short videos in which she tests every imaginable form of suffering. It’s hard to get into this film, with Exarchopoulos disfigured to excess… But everything starts to make sense as the story focuses on her character: a woman who refuses to share her story because she simply doesn’t care. Despicable, yet possessing a strange virtue: unable to feel physical pain, she has no sense of intimacy, no shame. She is nothing but an image, a reflection, a representation. The film questions the meaning of such a life — and, by extension, the meaning of ours, as we consume her experiences instead of living our own.

A decent game, a bit of a struggle in parts but that’s what made it truly fun. The alters all have their annoying quirks and that’s what makes them feel human.

I did not have watching Disney’s Robin Hood on my radar this year but here we are. I had a day where the song Oo-De-Lally got stuck in my head from the movie. It was random. Just appeared. I kept humming it off and on while doing housework. It got to the point where I was like, why am I humming this song. I haven’t seen Robin Hood in at least 20 years., so I decided to do what any person does in this situation. I searched for it on Disney Plus and watched it. Let me start by saying this movie is still a good watch even if it is 52 years old this year. The music is catchy (obviously) and the characters are entertaining. While I like Robin Hood and Little John, my favorite character is Lady Cluck. She provides good laughs. The “football” scene with Lady Cluck is just as entertaining as I remember.

I literally can’t get so many of these tracks out of my head! Disco Snails is So. Much. Fun. I’m now something of a Vulf fanatic, which feels awkward at times; but I’m learning to accept that I’m just one of those people who enjoys almost everything they produce. Vulfmon’s Dot is no exception!

❤️ I adored this book, and the whole series. It’s *so* thoughtfully written. It felt a little over-long at times, but I quickly discovered that was me not being in the mood, it was always gripping again when I gave it a day or two! Philosophy, language, speculative fiction lovers… look no further!

I’m really, really enjoying this! It’s a slow start, but things pick up quickly. It’s somewhat infuriating when things don’t line up, but each thing you figure out feels *great* 😄 (I somewhat obsessed about taking notes right from the start, I think I overdid it, but I haven’t had many “damn I wish I could remember that” moments, which has been nice!) If you like puzzles & escape rooms: this is the game for you!

It’s a fun romp with all the insane stunts you’d expect from a mission impossible. They’ve somewhat dropped the intrigue parts of previous installations and replaced with some (slightly heavy handed but heartfelt) messages on the theme of coping in today’s political environment — valuable (maybe needed?) but perhaps a bit much? Over all well worth a watch if you like great action stunts, and a worthy end to a very fun series of films.

Deep dive into the music and culture of New Orleans after the hurricane katrina. Follow many colourful characters trying to set their lifes back, the local communities, with, as the main actor of the show: the music! One of the best and most original tv shows that gave HBO is reputation, by none other than David Simon.

Very enjoyable show around the making of a young and visionary Black Man who resorts to drug dealing to achieve his goal of freedom. Many stories intertwined with colourful characters, and thugs having more code and honor than the people on the right side of the law. The show does a good job questioning what is justice really in the rigged US society. A minor flaw is the prudity of the few sex scenes, in star contrast with the realism of the rest of the show.
